Biofabricating organs

They’re called ‘organoids’, miniature body parts designed to help meet the ever increasing demand for transplant organs and supplement human donations.

The first successful organ transplant occurred in 1905, but it wasn’t until the latter part of the 20th century that transplant technology really began to have an impact. And now, say those involved, we’re on the cusp of further dramatic change.

In this edition of Future Tense, freelance producer William Isdale introduces us to several leading transplant technology researchers; exploring what they do and how they see the future of organ donation unfolding.
